Our volunteers, who play a critical role at BCN, devote their time and energy to assist us in serving others. Ongoing volunteer opportunities are listed below. Please call 615-329-3386 for additional information. Volunteer needs do change on a regular basis. (If volunteering for children or youth programs, as well as Meals on Wheels, background checks are required).

Customer Service/Greeter

Date: Monday- Friday

Time: 9:00am-2:00pm

Targeted Clients: All Customers

Description: The Customer Service greeter will greet customers and callers who inquire about services offered at BCN.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 2-4 hour shifts available/may vary based on need

Responsibilities: Greet customers and directs them to appropriate BCN services. Other duties may include light typing, filing, copying, sorting and shredding.

Meals On Wheels Volunteer Drivers

Date: Monday- Friday

Time: 10:30AM-1:00 PM

Targeted Clients: Elderly Homebound Seniors Ages 65 +

Description: Volunteer Drivers will pick up cooked meals from host Churches and deliver meals to elderly citizens on designated routes.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 4-5 Volunteers Daily M-F

Responsibilities: Deliver meals to Elderly Citizens in North Nashville Area.

Slammin’ Jammin’ Camp (Grades K-4th)

Date: Monday- Friday, June 3-July 26, 2024

Time: 7:30 am-5:00 pm

Targeted Clients: Children in Kindergarten- 4th Grade

Description: Academic Enrichment, Interactive Education Games, Sports, Team Challenges, Field Trips, Swimming, Lunch and Snacks, Nutritional Education Program, Arts and Crafts, Character Education, Physical Education, Campus Garden and More.

Number of Volunteers Needed: Volunteer Teacher Assistants (3 daily) to assist with 25-50 children in Grades K-4th. Preferably 3 Volunteers who can Volunteer throughout summer.

Responsibilities: Assist with teaching, tutoring and implementing summer camp activities. Help chaperone field trips and assist with activities.

Slammin’ Jammin’ Camp (Grades 5th-8th)

Date: Monday- Friday, June 3-July 26, 2024

Time: 7:30am-5:00pm

Targeted Clients: Youth in 5th-8th Grade

Number of Volunteers Needed: Volunteer Teacher Assistants (3 daily) to assist with 45 youth in 5th-8th Grade. Preferably 3 Volunteers who can Volunteer throughout summer.

Responsibilities: Assist with teaching, tutoring and implementing summer camp activities. Help chaperone field trips and assist with activities

Vocational Success Institute Program (VSI)

Date: Monday- Friday, June 3-July 19, 2024

Time: 8:00am-3:30pm

Targeted Clients: Youth (14-15 Years Old)

Description: VSI is a Job-Readiness Skill and Career Training and Development Program. The VSI program also provides an opportunity for participants to complete 1-week of Job Readiness Training and a 5-week Internship.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1-2 Volunteers who can provide workshops around Job-Readiness Skills, Career Development and Planning and Workforce Preparation.

Responsibilities: Provide Workshops in area of Job Readiness Training, Occupational Showcase or Offer workshops on Workforce Development or Starting Your Own Business. June 3-7, 2024

Bethlehem STARS After-School Program Grades K-4th

Date: Monday-Thursday (August 2024-May 2025 academic school year)

Time: 3-6pm

Targeted Clients: Students in Grades K-4

Description: Tutoring, Health and Fitness, Alcohol/Drug prevention education, mentoring and recreation, self-esteem education and social skills

Number of Volunteers Needed: Tutors, Staff Assistants (3-4) daily) on Mondays-Thursdays during the School Year.

Responsibilities: Assist with teaching, tutoring and implementing after school program activities.

Bethlehem STARS After-School Program Grades 5th-12th

Date: Monday-Thursday (August 2024-May 2025 school year)

Time: 3-6pm

Targeted Clients: Students in Grades 5-12, NAZA Afterschool Program

Description: Tutoring, Health and Fitness, Alcohol/Drug prevention education, mentoring and recreation, self-esteem education and social skills

Number of Volunteers Needed: Tutors, Staff Assistants (3-4 daily) on Mondays-Thursdays during the School Year.

Responsibilities: Assist with teaching, tutoring, literacy and implementing after school program activities.

Fall Festival/ Halloween Party

Date: Thursday, October 31, 2024

Time: 5-7PM

Targeted Clients: Children and Families of North Nashville

Description: Fall Festival and Halloween Party will consist of Carnival-style games, resource booths and refreshments for an estimated 250 people

Number of Volunteers Needed: Need (15) Volunteers

Responsibilities: Volunteers will help operate carnival games, serve refreshments, face painting, help pass out Goodie bags and help with light clean-up duties.

Christmas/ Holiday Toy Store

Date: December 10-12, 2024

Time: 10:00am-2:00pm

Targeted Clients: Ages 2-12 Years Old

Description: Provides an opportunity for families to provide Christmas for their children.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 4-6 per day, Mailing, Registration, Data Input, Set-up, Break-down

Responsibilities: Assist with packaging solicitation letters, Intake recipients information, Input information in data base for each intake, Assist with the set up of items in gymnasium, Assist with taking down items and equipment.

Our volunteers play a critical role in our outreach programs at Bethlehem Centers of Nashville. “Serving the underserved” has been the heart of our mission for over a century.
